Mexico: Land of The Hypocrite!

You know, I posted a link to THIS in a forum without reading all the way through it. Then I got to this quote:

"Is it legal for a foreigner to work in Mexico?

Yes, provided that you have the right permit. You are not permitted to travel to Mexico, enter as a tourist and seek gainful employment there. You must have the correct migratory permits to do so before you go.

Permits are gained from the Mexican Government and are issued to people who are sponsored by companies in Mexico (or foreign companies with Mexican operations / subsidiaries), or by people with specific skills required in Mexico. You can enter Mexico to work for a foreign company provided that you do not receive any remuneration directly from a Mexican company or subsidiary.

Permits can also be arranged for investors (i.e. setting up your own company), but you'll need to invest 40, 000 times the daily minimum salary* in order to qualify. Casual investors (for example, buying stocks on the Mexican Stock Exchange) can also get resident permits, although as with direct investment, you will need to invest the same amount as above.

These mechanisms are in place to ensure that you will not be: a) taking jobs that Mexican nationals could otherwise have and/or; b) ensure that if you don't have an immediate income, you have the means to support yourself without relying on the Mexican State in any way."

What I put in bold type is completely laughable! I actually laughed Mountain Dew through my nose when I read this! That is one of the single most hypocritical things I have ever read. It doesn't say anything at all about jobs that Mexican Nationals might want. It says jobs that that they could otherwise have. It also says that if anyone immigrates to Mexico, that they must support themselves without reliance upon the Mexican State in any way. I know I am repeating what I just posted from that website, but I am trying to wrap my head around it! Can anyone please tell me, for the love of all that is holy, how the Mexican government can have the unmitigated gall to say anything at all about us trying to curb illegal immigrants from their country?

First Blog (here anyway)

Hello! This is my first blog here. I have one on MySpace as well, but I am kind of getting tired of MySpace having so many hiccups with their blog posting capabilities.

This will be my outlet for all of my ramblings about politics, news items and society in general. Occasionally, I will post something of a more personal nature, but I usually don't. It isn't that I am intensely private, it's that I just keep personal stuff to myself typically. So let's see what's in this brain of mine!
